Max Stocker  Secretary

Max is principal of Stocker & Associates, a fisheries consulting firm.  He currently chairs the HFH Mid-Vancouver Island Board of Directors.  Max has a wealth of experience and is very dedicated to the Habitat for Humanity mission.

Prior to his retirement, Max served as Scientist for 30 years with Fisheries and Oceans Canada in Nanaimo, BC. As a scientist, he was a member of numerous national and international scientific committees, many of which he chaired. In 1990-1, he served as in-house consultant to the New Zealand Fishing Industry Board.

Max began volunteering for HFH when he joined the Mid-Vancouver Island Board in 2005.  He served as Build Committee chair from 2005-2008 overseeing construction of two Habitat homes. In 2008, Max was elected President of the MVI affiliate. Under his leadership, the affiliate was recognized by HFH Canada in 2009 "for extraordinary accomplishments in advancing Habitat for Humanity’s mission in communities with populations of 70,000-150,000”.  In June 2008 Max became a member of the National Finance Committee and also served on the recent Funding Model review team.  He currently serves on the HFH Canada Finance Committee and Governance Committee.

Max and his wife Cathy are active in Habitat’s Global Village Program where they participated in projects in Guatemala, Argentina, Romania, and in November 2009 they volunteered in the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Mekong Build in Vietnam.
