Attawapiskat First Nations Reserve

Habitat for Humanity Canada is unable to assist with housing needs in the short term in Attawapiskat, given our nearest operation is more than 1,000 km from the community. Sadly, Attawapiskat is one of many Aboriginal communities facing urgent issues of inadequate housing, healthcare, and education. Given this, Habitat is committed to helping Aboriginal families in need across Canada through a long term, holistic strategy to improve daily living conditions. We are currently working with Aboriginal leaders and organizations including Shawn Atleo and the Assembly of First Nations (AFN), among others, to better understand these unique needs and identify solutions. As a committed contributor, we will work alongside local leadership to support their strategy to enhance housing for Aboriginal communities, including Attawapiskat.
