Habitat for Humanity is a non-denominational housing organization that was founded in the United States in 1976 based on Christian principles and the idea of partnership housing. Everyone can use the hammer as an instrument to manifest their faith. Habitat founder, Millard Fuller, calls this concept "the theology of the hammer," explaining, "we may disagree on all sorts of other things... but we can agree on the idea of building homes with God's people in need, and… doing so… [at] no profit and no interest." Engaging your faith group on a Habitat build provides the opportunity for you to live out your faith. We have a variety of meaningful ways your faith group can get involved, and together, we can make affordable homeownership a reality for families living in need. To involve your faith group, contact your local affiliate. |

The contributions that the Don and Lynda Sellar have made to Habitat for Humanity are truly significant and outstanding: from Lynda's volunteer position on our Northumberland affiliate's Board of Directors and development of their first Women Build, to Don's leadership on the build site and in the Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) program, or their many Global Village trips, these two individuals embody the spirit of Habitat and have gone above and beyond to improve the quality of their affiliate, the building program and our international organization.

Thanks to Our Partners' Leadership Efforts in Volunteerism and Engaging Your Employees in Helping Families
Find a Safe, Affordable Home
As a build partner, you already understand that when you participate in a build, the experience stays with you, and we'd like to thank our partners for getting out of the office and on to build sites. Together, we have built safe, affordable housing for approximately 1,800 families since 1985.
You already recognize how this opportunity for volunteer engagement leads to better employee retention, and to building better teams. Nominating a volunteer, whether he/she is selected, further accomplishes these goals, and honours your volunteers, encouraging others to get more involved.
