Dr. Metson is the CEO and General Manager of the CRC Self-Help Inc., a non-profit housing provider for the hardest to house in the city of Toronto. CRC Self Help owns and manages some 33 properties in the Toronto area.
He is a member of the CHRA International Committee.
He has served as Executive Director of the Toronto Christian Resource Centre in Toronto.
He has been actively engaged as a consultant in the development of social and public policy in the housing field within Canada and Internationally.
He was the inaugurating President and Chair of the Board of the Toronto Housing Company and Chaired the Finance and Investment committee and the Governance committee of the Toronto Community Housing Corporation.
He has provided leadership in housing advocacy and development as President of the Canadian Housing and Renewal Association and also served as President of the Ontario Non Profit Association.
He is currently Chair of the Tri-Presbytery Corporation of the United Church of Canada and is currently Treasurer of Northumberland Hospital Foundation.
John brings extensive experience as a developer and manager of a number of social housing projects.
He is a graduate of Mount Allison University, and Queens University in Psychology, History and Theology. He holds a Certificate in Administration, York University, and is a Certified Mediation Counselor. He taught social policy and community development at the University of Toronto and served as presiding Chaplain of Victoria University of the University of Toronto.
