Recently named as one of Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100™ in the Public Sector Leader category for 2009, by the Women’s Executive Network.
Pamela Hine was born and raised in Sackville, New Brunswick. She received a diploma in Urban Land Economics with the University of British Columbia and a Property Management Degree with the Institute of Real Estate Management.
Ms. Hine began her public service career in 1980 with Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation. In 1995 she moved to the Eastern Arctic to work with the Northwest Territories Housing Corporation and the Government of the Northwest Territories. In 2000, Ms. Hine was appointed as President of the Nunavut Housing Corporation which she held until 2003 at which time she was appointed as Deputy Minister of Education for the Government of Nunavut. In 2006 Ms. Hine continued her service in senior management with the Government of Nunavut with the appointment as Deputy Minister of Community and Government Services.
In August 2007 Ms. Hine relocated to Whitehorse with the appointment as Deputy Minister of Education for the Government of Yukon.
Ms. Hine has served on the National Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity, was the Founding Member/Chairperson of the Habitat for Humanity Iqaluit Affiliate and is now the Vice Chairperson of the Habitat for Humanity Yukon Affiliate.
