The Home Depot: Supporting Sustainable Builds Across Canada

Team Depot Volunteered More Than 5,000 Hours on Habitat Build Sites in 2009!

The Home Depot, while one of Habitat for Humanity ‘s largest donors in terms of monetary support, provides much more than funds and materials to Habitat for Humanity builds – Team Depot, The Home Depot's volunteer force of associates, has been an energetic force, helping on build sites across Canada.

The Home Depot Canada Foundation Sustainable Housing Grant Program

Since the launch of The Home Depot Canada Foundation Sustainable Housing Grant Program, an initiative that will help fuel Habitat's existing National Sustainable Build Program by providing additional funding for environmentally sustainable builds that adhere to recognized sustainable standards or include sustainable building techniques and materials, The Home Depot Canada Foundation has donated over $930,000 to the Program that will be put towards "green" Habitat builds across the country in an effort to provide energy and cost efficient homes for Canadian families who often have to make a choice between life's necessities, such as housing and food.

Team Depot – Supporting Habitat Sustainable Builds with Volunteer Power

Team Depot is supporting Habitat's goal to build more sustainable homes by volunteering on each build supported by the Program.

MONTREAL

Steven Rotman, President of Habitat for Humanity Montreal, welcomes the enthusiastic
Team Depot crew - there were 12 Home Depot employees in all, including the
manager of the St Henri store, Philippe St. Georges.

OTTAWA

Approximately 20 Team Depot members volunteered in November from three stores,

and were a tremendous help to our affiliate in Ottawa.

VANCOUVER

Eager Team Depot members helped with basement framing, installing roof sheathing

and other roof prep on townhomes for five Habitat partner families.

MID-VANCOUVER ISLAND

This sustainable home was built thanks in large part to Team Depot's volunteer efforts.
