You Never Know What You’ll Find at Your Local ReStore
Visit Your Local ReStore For Your Home Reno Project and Unique Convo Pieces Whether you’re in the market for materials to complete that home improvement project, or are just looking for something unusual as a conversation piece, visit your local ReStore and visit it often. Not only might you find the deal of a lifetime, but you are also contributing to the betterment of our environment by diverting these items from potential landfill.
Recently, some of our ReStores have received donations from film and television sets:
- The Calgary ReStores recently received a donation that included a number of the set decorations from the Brad Pitt “Jessie James” movie.
- Many of the “blue screen” backdrops and a plywood Sherpa hut from a recent CBC presentation of “Everest” also found their way into the Calgary store via a donation.
- A complete Cirque du Soleil stage was also donated and dismantled in order to give a second life to the materials used in the original construction.
- The Toronto ReStores recently received a donation of the set materials and props from the Mike Myers film, “The Love Guru”. All in all, “The Love Guru” donated 5 trailer loads of very unique items.
Some of the more unique and unusual donations that have been received by various ReStores include: – a circa 1940s fire truck – a bumper from a 1958 Pontiac – an old dentist’s chair – a bovine inoculator – a birthing table, complete with stirrups – and many antiques and collectibles related to the building/home improvement industry.
The generosity of some people continues to amaze many of our ReStore managers.
- One donor who deals in used trailers donates one of these units to the Owen Sound ReStore each year. This donor hooks the trailer to a tractor and hauls his donation for 8 hours to get it to the ReStore!
Thanks to everyone who has donated to or made a purchase at one of our ReStores!
