Habitat for Humanity homeowners are happier, healthier, more confident and more financially secure in their new homes. That’s why for Canada’s 150th, we’re sharing our 150 reasons to build as we raise walls on hundreds of homes across Canada for families in need of safe, affordable housing.

Share YOUR reason to build using #150ReasonstoBuild! Or donate to help another Canadian family build strength, stability and self-reliance in a Habitat home.

What is the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project?

From July 9-14, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and former First Lady Rosalynn Carter came to Canada for Habitat for Humanity’s 34th Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project. What did we achieve? We helped build 150 homes across the country for Canada’s 150th anniversary of confederation – Habitat Canada’s biggest build project ever!

Over the week the Carters focused their efforts in Edmonton and Winnipeg, but the Carter Work Project was a Canada-wide effort, with almost 50 communities in every province and territory helping us reach our goal of building 150 homes. Scroll down to our stories and videos section for highlights from the week.

Ultimately we believe that everyone in Canada has the right to a safe, affordable and decent place to live. By contributing your time or money to Habitat you can help build a more caring Canada – where neighbours help neighbours build homes that provide a safe and affordable foundation for a better life.
