Habitat homes mean children can settle into the safety of their community – to grow, study and play. They thrive both physically and academically when they can build friendships, and develop a sense of belonging. A safe and stable environment helps children and youth do better in school – and move toward a brighter future.
Patricia and her children had often not stayed in one place long enough to unpack their boxes. But since they have moved into their Habitat home, things have changed dramatically. Her daughter is now in college, a dream she once thought was out of reach. Their 13-year-old son has been transformed since they moved into their Habitat home. He has become more outgoing, and he’s getting better grades now that he’s rooted. He has even enrolled in a youth leadership program, and Patricia says the difference she sees in him is amazing.
You can help families struggling to give their children the stability they need to do better in school. Your gift will go further this year, with the $100,000 worth of lumber donated by our partner EACOM Timber Corporation to help build Habitat homes.
